The Verdejo (vr-DAY-ho) grape, which is native to Rueda in central Spain, is a unique variety that mixes many different flavour profiles. Its aromatic intensity is reminiscent of Sauvignon Blanc, but its full, round body makes it a close partner to Viognier. With notes of peach skin, lime and beeswax, this lovely white will make a fine accompaniment to escalivada (roasted Mediterranean vegetables in garlic oil).
